If you look up Tony's Italian Delicatessen on Yelp, you'll see right away that this restaurant is a cut above the rest. With over 500 reviews, Tony's maintains a 5-star review and is regarded as one of the top 100 restaurants to eat in according to Yelp.

When you pull up into Tony's Italian Delicatessen, the first thing you notice is that it is wedged between a laundromat and an empty storefront in the same parking lot of a gas station- so you know it's going to be good!
Walking in you are instantly hit with the scent of garlic, olive oil, and cured meats. Although the building is small, in no way is the fragrance and flavor of the food the same. The place was divided in two, with the main room looking like more of a classic Italian fast-food establishment with dark wood tables and chairs, and the other half looking like a 90's diner with outer space table tops and metal chairs.

As you step up to the counter, a huge board filled with rows and columns of different celebrity names can be seen on the wall. Their menu uses the names of famous celebrities, such as S. Stallone, A. Pacino, and D. DeVito. Then they also have classic Italian sandwiches such as the Meatball sub and Chicken Parmesan sandwich.
After asking for recommendations from the staff, we settled on ordering the Lucky Luciano, Sophia Loren, and Meatball sandwiches. Not too long after we situated ourselves, our order was ready, and we picked it up from the same counter we ordered from. From the weight, we could already tell that our sandwiches were packed to the brim with meats, cheeses, and vegetables. When we opened our boxes, the Italian bread sandwiches filled up the entire box. We all laughed and knew there was no way we could finish it all in one sitting.
Lucky Luciano

In the Luciano, the first thing you notice is the nice crust of the bread studded with herbs and seasoning. Then a warm gush of sweet sausage and roasted red peppers bathed in marinara sauce. It is similar to spaghetti meat sauce, but with stronger flavors, and the sweet sausage and red peppers blend together perfectly to create the perfect balance of slightly sweet and salty. When you get the perfect bite, you can taste the spicy salami and cheese blanket the meat sauce and an excellent crispy mouthfeel from the bread.
Sophia Loren

In the Sophia Loren, you can notice the apparent contrast with the Luciano, it's a cold sandwich. While the Luciano has a richer and slightly oilier taste, this one is refreshing and juicy thanks to the roma tomatoes, basil pesto, and roasted turkey. The fresh spring lettuce also gives it a crunchy texture to make up for the untoasted bread. Finally, the swiss cheese gives it a pleasantly creamy and savory taste. The best part? You don't have to worry about heating it up later!
Robert De Niro

The De Niro comes with Tony’s signature toastred bread with herbs and seasoning. But what makes this beautiful sandwich set apart from the others the hidden mountain of pastrami stuffed underneath. When you take your first bite out of this monstrous sandwich, your mouth gets bombarded with sweet and savory flavors! The pastrami’s smoked and pepper flavors make there appearance known in every bite! Even though it has such a strong flavor, you can’t get tired of it! With the help of juicy tomatoes embedded in the cheese on top, and the deli mustard lathered on the bread, it keeps the flavors refreshing and never montonous! It’s a never ending cycle! Until you finish the sandwich…!
Meatball

When people say, "the best things in life are the simple things," the meatball sub is what they're talking about. The first thing you see is the gooey melted mozzerella cheese covering mounds of enormous meatballs. The toasted Italian bread is barely able to hold together from the weight of the generous portions of meatballs. Finally, with a generous helping of marinara sauce, the trifecta is complete. We noticed that even though there was a lot of sauce, the sandwich was by no means soggy. Each bite had a fantastic crispy texture from the bread, followed along with the creamy cheese and juicy meatballs. This sandwich definitely K.I.S.S.' ed (Keep It Simple Stupid)!
As we predicted, no one was able to finish their sandwich! Demi couldn't even finish half of a half! When you think about it, you get two meals for the price of one! What really makes this place unique is the casual atmosphere. Here, you don't have to worry about being proper, just dig into your sandwich! Get messy, get sauce on your face, get your hands oily, it's okay! We definitely want to go back and enjoy another sandwich from their extensive menu and savor every bite. We really enjoyed finding this place and trying out their nationally famous sandwiches. We definitely recommend that if you are in the Conroe area, this is a must-try site. You won't be disappointed because there is a sandwich for everyone!
